Welcoming Spring – May 2015 Update

Pictured above is a much-needed weekend with the family after a busy week of studying! I was able to take the family to the Parthenon in Nashville and fly kites in the park with the kids. I am so thankful God has allowed me to have a proper balance between my ministry responsibilities, classes and family. The past two months have been extremely challenging. Looking back, we attended three funerals in the span of a month. Thomas Stone, who I asked prayers for during my last prayer letter, went home to be with the Lord on March 21, 2015. A few weeks prior, I lost my cousin to a tragic car wreck on March 4th, 2015. I am thankful that I was able to hear her testimony first-hand. Lastly, a young couple in our church mourned the loss of their baby a few short hours after he was born. Such loss has been straining, but we know that each of these loved ones are in the presence of the Lord.

I praise God that He has seen me through the end of this spring semester. This was the most demanding set of classes I have had in seminary. As of right now, I am set to graduate in spring of 2017. I am scheduled for two classes this summer, and I have already registered for this fall. I thank each of you for your prayers as I continue to advance through the schooling required for Navy chaplaincy. I should be receiving my orders sometime this month for officer training in Newport in July. I am eager to attend the training and the Advanced Chaplaincy Training at Calvary Baptist this August! I will be heading straight to Ohio after two weeks in Rhode Island.

Our Master Clubs program is drawing to a close for the summer. We will restart it at the first of the school year. I have been able to develop a relationship with the local schools, and I am praying that I will be able to distribute flyers when we begin Master Clubs this coming fall. In the meantime, our Assistant Pastor and his wife will be having a strong focus on children’s choir and music ministry for the children this summer. Several kids have invited their friends, I pray that this continues as we transition into our summer program! Also, a wonderful opportunity to help cover a couple of our teenagers cost for camp has emerged. Please pray that I would be able to convince the mother of two of my teenage boys to allow them to attend camp with us this year.
